You can delete your Paluma account and its data at any time. There are two ways to do it: the in-app route is immediate, and the email route exists for anyone who has already uninstalled the app.
Option 1: delete from inside the app (fastest)
- Open Paluma and sign in.
- Go to Profile → Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account.
- Type DELETE to confirm, then tap Delete forever.
Your access is revoked and you are signed out immediately, and the request cannot be undone. Removing your data then completes automatically in the background, normally within a short time.
Option 2: request deletion by email
If you no longer have the app installed, email support@palumachat.com from the email address associated with your Paluma account, with the subject “Delete my account”.
We verify the request comes from the account owner before acting on it, then start deletion promptly.
What gets deleted
The following are permanently and irreversibly deleted:
- Your account: sign-in credentials and the Google account link.
- Your profile: handle, display name, bio, avatar, and banner.
- Your private, unpublished characters: every draft you never published, in full.
- All conversations and messages: every chat you have had with any character, including the full message history.
- All memory: story summaries, saved memories, extracted facts, and relationship state derived from your chats.
- Your personas: every persona you created, and their versions.
- Your images: uploaded and AI-generated avatars, banners, and Glimpse scene images.
- Favourites, follows, and your subscription record.
What happens to characters you published
Characters you published are unpublished immediately. They disappear from search, discovery, and every public page, and your name is removed from them.
They are not erased outright, because other people may already have ongoing conversations that were started with those characters. Deleting the underlying character record would destroy those users’ own chat history, which is not ours to delete. The character data is retained only to keep those existing conversations working; it is no longer attributed to you and is no longer discoverable by anyone.
If you want a published character removed entirely rather than unpublished, email us before deleting your account and we will handle it as a takedown.
What we retain, and for how long
- Deletion record: we keep a dated record that a deletion occurred, with your user ID stored as a one-way hash. This lets us confirm a deletion happened without keeping anything that identifies you. Retained indefinitely.
- Payment and tax records: if you purchased Paluma Plus, Google Play holds the transaction record. We are required to retain billing records for tax and accounting purposes for the period required by law. These are held by Google Play and our payment records, not in the app.
- Moderation records: if your account was subject to a report, strike, or takedown, we retain an anonymised record of the enforcement action to protect other users. It does not contain your chats.
- Backups: deleted data may persist for a limited period in encrypted database backups used for disaster recovery, before those backups roll over. It is not accessible in the product during that window.
- Server logs: operational logs containing IP addresses are kept only as long as needed for security and debugging, then deleted.
- Analytics history: we request deletion of your analytics history from our analytics provider as part of the same process.
Delete some of your data without deleting your account
You do not have to close your account to remove things. Each of the following is deleted from Paluma’s servers as soon as you confirm, and cannot be undone:
- A chat and everything learned from it: open Chats, press and hold the conversation, select it (and any others), then tap Delete. This removes the full message history and all memory derived from that chat: its story summary, saved memories, extracted facts, and relationship state.
- A single memory: inside a chat, open Memory, choose the memory and delete it. The character stops using it from the next reply.
- A persona: open Studio, press and hold the persona and choose Delete persona (or open the persona and use the same option). All of its versions are removed.
- A character you published: open it in Studio and set its visibility to Private. It leaves search, discovery and every public page immediately. To have it erased entirely, email support@palumachat.com with the character’s name and we will handle it as a takedown; the retention rule in the section above applies to other people’s existing conversations.
- Profile details and images: edit or remove your bio, avatar and banner from Profile at any time; the previous image is deleted from storage.
Anything not covered above, or a request from an email address without app access, can be sent to support@palumachat.com; we verify that the request comes from the account owner before acting on it.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your Paluma account does not automatically cancel a Google Play subscription. If you subscribe to Paluma Plus, cancel it in Google Play → Subscriptions before deleting your account, otherwise billing may continue.
