Paluma is a community-first AI character network. People create characters, publish them, and roleplay together. These Guidelines describe what is welcome here and what is not. They apply to everything you publish: character names, descriptions, images, greetings, scenarios, personas, and your public profile.
The Content Policy sets out the specific content limits in detail. This page covers behaviour and enforcement.
The short version
- Create things you would be happy to have your name on.
- Paluma is a public-safe platform. No sexual content.
- Don’t target real people. Don’t harass anyone.
- Don’t create characters designed to harm, deceive, or radicalise.
What we do not allow
Sexual content
Paluma does not permit sexually explicit content of any kind in character descriptions, images, greetings, scenarios, or chat. Soft romance is in scope; sexual content is not. Attempting to route around this with euphemism, encoding, or jailbreak prompts is itself a violation.
Any sexualisation of minors is an absolute prohibition. It results in immediate permanent removal and, where applicable, a report to the relevant authorities. There is no warning and no appeal for this category.
Real people
- No characters depicting private individuals, such as a classmate, an ex, or a colleague, anyone who has not chosen public life.
- No characters that impersonate a real person in a way designed to deceive, defame, or put words in their mouth.
- Public figures may appear in clearly fictional, non-defamatory, non-sexual contexts. If a reasonable person could mistake it for the real person’s actual views or conduct, it is not allowed.
- Any real person may request removal of a character based on them. We will honour it.
Hate and harassment
No content that attacks or demeans people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation. No characters built to harass a specific person or group. No slurs.
Violence and harm
Fictional conflict is fine. That is storytelling. What is not allowed: content that glorifies real-world violence, instructs on weapons or attacks, promotes terrorism or violent extremism, or encourages self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders.
Characters must not present themselves as qualified medical, legal, psychiatric, or financial professionals giving real advice, or discourage anyone from seeking real help.
Illegal and deceptive content
No content facilitating illegal activity, drug sales, weapons trafficking, fraud, malware, or scams. No characters designed to phish for personal information, payment details, or credentials.
Spam and manipulation
No bulk low-quality character publishing, no keyword stuffing to game discovery, no fake favourites or engagement, no duplicate accounts to evade limits or enforcement.
Fan and canon characters
Characters based on existing fiction are permitted, and we know they are a large part of why people love this kind of platform. But:
- Rights holders may request removal, and we will comply. See DMCA / Takedown.
- Don’t copy substantial verbatim text from the source work.
- Don’t present a fan character as officially licensed or endorsed.
- All other rules, especially the ones about sexual content and minors, apply in full.
Your private chats
Conversations between you and a character are private. We do not moderate them the way we moderate published characters, and we do not read them out of curiosity. Automated safety systems operate on them, and we may access specific conversations when investigating a report, a legal obligation, or a serious safety risk. See the Privacy Policy.
Reporting
Every public character has a Report option in the app. Tell us what is wrong and we will review it. Reports are confidential. The creator is not told who reported them.
For urgent safety issues, or anything involving a minor, email support@palumachat.com directly.
Enforcement
Depending on severity and history, we may:
- Remove the offending content and notify you;
- Unpublish a character and return it to draft;
- Issue a strike against the account;
- Suspend publishing privileges;
- Suspend or terminate the account.
Most first violations get a removal and a strike, not a ban. Severe categories, including sexual content involving minors, credible threats, and coordinated harm, result in immediate permanent termination.
Appeals
If you think an enforcement decision was wrong, you can appeal from Profile → Settings → My Appeals in the app, or by emailing support@palumachat.com. A human reviews appeals. We aim to respond within 7 days. Decisions on child-safety violations are final.
Changes
These Guidelines will change as the platform grows and as we learn what actually causes harm. Material changes will be announced in the app.
